Thanks for Submitting

Let's Continue Your Journey.

Thanks for Submitting your form

Next Step...

Our Creative Team will review your initial submission.  We will then:

  • Email you the Talent Release Form.  In order for us to include you in the project, you will need to submit this form. Please write your name exactly how you would like it to appear in the credits for the documentary or print.   Please note that you can use an witch name alias within the documentary itself, but this form needs to be signed with your legal name.
  • Email you to discuss next steps.  This may include setting up an interview (in person, on phone, or via zoom) or a request for further information.

Ready to Self-Submit a Video?

  • We've set up an easy to use on-line submission portal where you can record short 1 minute video answers to our questions.  This is great for us to get to know you in the comfort of your own surroundings.
  • The video/audio can be used right in our project, and/or we may follow up to request additional footage or an interview.
  • Please read through the below tips and questions before heading to the video portal.

Important Tips For the Video Submission:

What to Wear and Setting the Scene:

Make magic when creating your submission!

  • Read through the submission questions and tips to help you prepare for your submission ritual!
  • Dress and wear makeup that makes you feel like your authentic witchy self.  Burn incense, ground yourself - do whatever sets the mood for you to be comfortable.  Do NOT however play music during your submission videos.
  • Your backdrop should not distract from the video (unless you have a really cool magical space!)  Choose a plain background so the focus is on you!
  • Frame a medium shot - head and shoulders.

Camera Tips for self-submissions:

  • Shoot the video in landscape mode. Hint: Turn your camera sideways.
  • Use the highest resolution setting (at least 1920 x 1080) for your camera. Please note: this is not an absolute requirement since we don’t want to omit compelling stories just because you don’t have access to the latest and greatest camera.
  • Try to get as steady a shot as possible. Use a smartphone tripod if you have one.
  • Don't sit in front of a window and be sure you are well lit.
  • Be sure your background does not detract from your message.  Make sure there is not a clock or moving ceiling fan in the video.
  • Make sure there isn't background noise (TV, music, fish tank bubbler)
  • Avoid capturing logos, videos, images, music, and any other material that might be copyrighted or trademarked.
  •  If having someone else film you, do not have them zoom in or do any fancy video effects.  Frame the shot and keep it simple.

What to and not to include in your answers

  • Be yourself and speak from the heart.
  • Keep statements/answers to questions in the submission portal brief - under one minute. Remember, this is a film made of curated video so each “scene” or “shot” in the final edit will be very brief, 30 secs to a minute in most instances. Longer submissions will not upload.
  • Do not disclose too much personal information.  Use your witch name (or first name only) and be more general in location.
  • Think of what makes your story unique.  What experiences, feelings, and connection have you made from Dancing with Witches?

The Questions:

You do not have to answer all questions.  Each answer should be under 1 minute (but do not rush)  Submissions may be followed up with an in person or online interview.

  1. Introduce yourself using your first or witch name. Without mentioning specific business names/locations, tell us who you are/what you do - and comparatively, who you are when you are dancing with witches. Who are you when your not being told who to be?
  2. Do you identify as a Witch? Why or why not? Do others consider you a witch?
  3. How did you begin dancing with witches? What attracted you? Describe how you felt the first time you met and danced with a group or performed the witch dance.
  4. How did your family or friends react to your dancing with witches? How have your relationships changed from this experience? Is there anyone you do not tell you do this? Why?
  5. Do you feel society is accepting of witches or those who dance as witches? Please share a positive and/or negative story of  reactions to your dancing as witches.
  6. How has dancing with witches changed your life? What does this experience give you?
  7. Share a video of you in your witchy element. This can be fully body and be in any setting.  No music please.  You do not have to speak.  It can be creating something, being with nature, working with magical elements, or anything else that is magical to you.
  8. Be creative and share anything else important to your story.
